Atirudra yaga saved from rain - HH Abhinava vidyateertha mahaswamigal

Elaborate arrangements were made for the Chaturamnaya Sammelanam that was held in Sringeri on May 1st, 1979. Thousands of devotees had gathered from all over the world to witness the historic meet of the four Jagadgurus seated together. But the sky was overcast with dark clouds threatening thunderous rains. It was as if all devas had assembled to enjoy the occasion. But some of us were scared at the gathering clouds and expressed our anxiety to His Holiness. Acharyal was unperturbed and while He was crossing the river, glanced at the sky and assured us that the Almighty would not pose any difficulty for auspicious activities. To everyone who had seen the clouds that day, it was a surprise that there was not a single drop of rain. There was only a pleasant breeze.

In another incident, Sri Kashi Iyer (India Cements) had undertaken to conduct Atirudram at Kalladaikuruchi with Acharyal's blessings. It was monsoon season, yet every arrangement was devoutly carried out. On the first day, sankalpa and japa went off well without any problems. Huge pandals were erected for japa, homa, feeding etc.

Although precautions were taken, after three days of heavy rain, devotees were anxious and worried. When nothing could be done to save the pandal and it appeared that the heavy rain would not allow the Atirudram to take place, Kashi Iyer sought Acharyal's blessings, which alone could save the situation. His Holiness smilingly told him, "Don't worry. Lord Shiva will not test his devotees when they are performing homa and japa with sincerity and selflessness for the welfare of the world. From the next day onwards till the end of Atirudram, the sky was clear and sunny. Later it was learnt that the surrounding regions had plentiful rains and the farmers were immensely benefited.
