GUHAGITA
Chapter Six
Identity of Jiva and Brahman

From the standpoint of body, I am your slave; from the point of view of Jiva, I am your part; from the standpoint of Atma, I am you only. Sadguru, there is no doubt in this. (6.2)

Hanuman spoke identical words to Sri Rama:

When we are in body-consciousness, Dvaitabhava, duality should be there. Bodily relations like father-son, guru-disciple etc. should be scrupulously maintained. When we are aligned with our Jivatma, Visishta-advaitabhava, qualified non-dualism should prevail. When we are totally rid of our individual identity and merged with the universal spirit, then Advaitabhava, non-duality, has set in completely.

Jagadguru, prodded by what, do I do karma now? I shall remain silent and happy as Jivanmukta, liberated even while in body. Muni, I said so (to Sri Bhikshu). (6.3)

Objects of thought are superior to sense organs; mind is superior to objects of thought; intellect is superior to mind; Atma is superior to intellect; Mahat, Cosmic Intelligence, is even higher. (6.24)
Mind is the faculty which considers various alternatives of action; intellect is the faculty which chooses one of the alternatives and determines the course of action.

Avyakta, the unmanifest (or Maya) is superior to Mahat; Purusha is superior to Avyakta. There is nothing superior to Purusha; that is the ultimate goal and the highest destination. (6.25)

This Purusha is hidden in all living beings as Atma; he is not visible. But he is seen by subtle viewers with subtle and sharp intellect. (6.26)
