Ignore your internal differences in outside threats - HH Bharati teertha Mahaswamigal

Once a devotee requested Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam to cite an episode, from the Mahabharatha, that produced a deep impact in His mind.
His Holiness: Duryodhana is captured by the Ghandarvas in the forest and is likely to be executed by them for his ill behaviour. On hearing this, Bheema, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva are overjoyed. But how does Yudhistra react? He instructs his brothers to go and save Duryodhana! Look at his attitude!
(His Holiness was visibly moved while narrating this.) Yudhistra could have kept quiet and let Duryodhana die. After all, it was not his problem! Moreover, the death of Duryodhana will only relieve Pandavas of all their suffering. Still, Yudhistra wants to do what is dharmic. He feels that enmity with Duryodhana is purely a family issue. Now, he has been captured by the Ghandarvas and is in need of help. He reminds his brothers that Duryodhana too is their brother and it is their dharma that they should save him. He declares that they will be failing in their duty if they let him die. Obeying his command, the valiant brothers go and save Duryodhana and bring him to Yudhistra. The great soul treats him with full respect and does not, even for once, refer to any of those suffering caused by him! When I read this episode, the character of Yudhistra inspired Me. I decided that I should live like him."

Later His Holiness remarked, "One should have such ideals in life or otherwise one may not be able to progress in one's spiritual pursuits."
