A lovely publication from the erstwhile Sri Vani Vilas Press of Srirangam.
This small booklet contains 4 works of a descendant of Srimad Appayya Dikshitendra and 1 work of Swami Vidyaranyar.
Vidvan Sri Vishvanatha Sastrigal was a descendant of Srimad Appayya Dikshitendra and an Aasthaana Pandita of Sringeri Jagadguru Samsthanam. Based on the information published in this book we come to know that this Brahmana took sannyasam in his later years and was known as Sri Shankarananda Sarasvati Swamigal. These are the following works of his published in this book:
1) Sri Sacchidananda Vijaya, a small Sanskrit Kaavyam on the life of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sacchidananda Sivabhinava Nrsimha Bharati Swamigal.
2) Gurupaduka-stava, a short Stotram in 28 shlokas. The first alphabet of each of the 27 shlokas begins with the following aksharams: 'श्रीसच्चिदानन्दशिवाभिनवनृसिंहभारतीस्वामिनां पादुके विराजेते' . The 28th shloka gives the conclusion. The beauty of the Stotra doesn't end with this. It contains wonderful Alankaras which are a delight to the student of Sanskrit and the 4th paada (quarter) of each shloka is set in resemblance with the Gurupaduka-stotra of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sacchidananda Sivabhinava Nrsimha Bharati Swamigal-- नमो नमः श्रीगुरुपादुकाभ्याम् ॥
3) Advaita-tattvadarsha, a short prakarana-grantha in prose which must have been written by him after Samnyasa-sweekara.
4) Guruseva-paddhati.
It is very exciting to note that a descendant of one of the top most Acharyas of the mainstream Shankaracharya Sampradaya, Srimad Appayya Dikshitendra, has written two wonderful works in praise of the Sringeri Acharya.
I am not sure if it was this Shankarananda Sarasvati Swamigal who gave Sannyasa-deeksha to Sri TK Balasubramanya Iyer as per the order of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Swamigal. What if it gets confirmed that it was this Shankarananda Sarasvati Swamigal who gave Sannyasa-deeksha to Gurubhakta-shikhamani, Shastra-prasaarabhuushana, Sri TK Balasubramanya Iyer? Sannyasa-deeksha from a Sannyasi who is a descendant of Lord Srimad Appayya Dikshitendra, an Amsha of Parameshvara, and Sannyasa-sweekaara with abundant blessings of the Sringeri Shankaracharya are नाल्पस्य तपसः फलं for Sri TK Balasubramanya Iyer. Let me repeat. This information is only a guess as there are no proper information about all the older generation brahmanas and sannyasis.
Year of Publication: 1958 (After the Videha-mukti of Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Swamigal)
