DHARMA STHOTHRAM

Part – 30.

Viswakarma, Manu

Sri vishnu Sahasranama starts with Viswam in the very first Nama. Viswam means "The all" is followed by Viswa karma, which means His power of creation is unique, in 50th nama. Viswaretha (seed of the universe ) is in 88th nama . 117 th and 149th namas are Viswa yoni (cause of the world ) . In 225 Viswathma (soul) takes place. Visvathrushe (holding the universe by power ) and viswabuje ( protects the worlds ) are in 238 and 239 th namas. 317th nama is Visvamoorthy (Universe arm) . 424thth nama is Visva moorthy (resting place ).425th nama viswa dakshinaya (of all powers). Similar to this many namas are repeated in SriVishnu Sahasranamam. Due to such repetition of namas some used to miss certain links often in recitation and so they either go forward or backward at times. So it was considered Santhai type of learning Sahasranamam is always the best method, and so if that type of tuition to younger generations can be started ,to encourage more people to join in Sri vishnu sahasranama parayanam. .

Sri vishnu Sahasranama 50th nama is Visva karma . This nama indicates HE is the creator of the world wide objects. He is an agent of all actions in the universe. He is the witness of all happening . But He is not involved in any imperfections and mortality taking place around at all times. In Srimad Bagavad Geetha Krishna (9.5)says as " Na ca mat sthani bhutanam pasya me yogam aiswaram , which means Although I am the maintainer of all living entities and although I am everywhere still, myself is the source of creation.

One day Krishna was playing with other children when Balaram came running to Yasoda and told her that Krishna had put a handful of mud into his mouth. Yasoda rushed to her child's rescue ,but Krishna denied that he he had eaten any mud , and accused others of telling a lie. Yasoda asked him to open his mouth and when he did she saw the entire universe in him. She also saw in him Gokula as well as herself looking into Krishna's mouth. She realized that Krishna was not a child but the lord himself. She could not believe her eyes

and wondered the experience was a dream or real. Krishna quickly closed his mouth and Yasoda forgetting the incident began to treat Krishna as her son.

This incident has caused Nammazhwar to compose 6.10.1 pasuram of Thiruvaimozhi as Ulagamunda Peruvaya; During the cosmic Pralyakalam Sriman Narayana ate the entire universe and protected the same by retaining it in His stomach. Such a large mouthed lord in order to eat so big universe, is having the supreme powerful capacity. HE is the embodiment of fame, and of complete perfect pure nature. HE is having the most shining( body )Thirumeni , and is of tall type .such as Thiruvikrama. He is dearest to the souls Lord Srinivasa, in Tirumalai, . He sought to kindly bless to join in the lotus feet as all services are done at His Holy feet.

Similarly, Thirumazhisai Azhwar in his Nanmughan Thiruvandathi 20th pasu-ram "Neeye ulagellam ninnarule"says as the whole world is none other than Sriman narayana. . Only due to HIS grace one attains the Moksha that is permanent. The happiness attained in Moksha loka is countless and HE is the lord of even those who have attained the post of devas due to the great Tapas they did.

The next 51st nama is Manu. This means as "HE who wills". The creation of the cosmos was only out of a minute part of His will that is reputed. He is Manu because He thinks or wills. Manu is derived from the root 'man'. This is otherwise called as Bagavath Sankalpam identified through many incarna-tions .It is said as every incarnation is done as a collective prayer to the Supreme in the form of prayers on the part of all dharmic people including Devas. According to Bhagavata Purana, there are twenty-two incarnations of Lord Vishnu. They consist twelve more incarnations besides the ten principle Dasavataarams. In Tiruppavai also Andru Ivvulagam pasuram Andal has sung the glory of Vamana, Rama, Krishna as they have no contradictions to previous births. Periazhwar puts the same as Varuga Varuga inge Vamana nambi kariya kuzhal kakuttha nambi covering the incarnations.

.Periazhwar in 4th Thirumozhi Senniyonghu " in 5th pasuram"Ponnaikkondu" He says Sriman Narayana has the power to command all five senses to be totally engaged in service to Him. He protects Athma from becoming a slave to others. Like a gold smith uses the testing stone ( uraikkal ) to rub the gold to test its quality , He is positioned in tongue and changed it to transmute it from its base nature into that of shining gold. Thanks to that sweet experience of chanting divya namas , his tongue has been sanctified .

Thus we can be thankful to Lord Sriman narayana for his incarnations and the great anubhavam of Azhwars and this is also what HE thinks ,wills or Mana sPart 30
