Greetings and Namaste. As Sri Vinayaka Chaturthi falls on Saturday, the 7th of September 2024, I am delighted to share a very rare Puja procedure to worship Lord Ganesha taken from Ganesha Mahapuranam, Upasana Khandam and Chatper 50. There are many such procedures on Lord Ganesha but this one has not been seen before by myself. The procedure, by and large, follows the standard Shodasopachara (16 services to Lord) format with a few services missing and a few additional services included. Typical of such special procedures, the order of the services also vary slightly.
The Puja procedure typically consists of 3 parts - Purvanga (services that start with Dhyana and finish with offering of flower garland), Archana (with a chosen set of Lord's names, and Uttaranga (services that start with Dhupam and that finish with Pradakshina Namaskaram. For Archana, there are dozens of Namavalis on Lord Ganesha to choose from and therefore not included here.
