Namaskaram
We are glad to present today the famous piece of Sri Tyagaraja "Nannu Palimpa" composed in Raga Mohanam. Legend is that during the marriage of Sri Tyagaraja's daughter one of his devoted disciple Sri Walajapet Venkatramana Bhagavatar carried a portrait of Sri Kodanda Rama as a present to his beloved Guru. Upon seeing the portrait Sri Tyagaraja went into rapture and composed this Kriti "Naanu Palimpa". A music festival is celebrated at Ayyampettai every year by members of Saurashtra Community in commemoration of Sri Walajapet Venkatramana Bhagavatar. Sri Venkatramana Bhagavatar and his son Sri Krishnaswami Bhagavatar wrote two separate biographies of Sri Tyagaraja. The palm manuscripts of Sri Tyagaraja and his horoscope are housed in the premises of Saurashtra Sabha, Madurai which was handed over by Sri Venkataraman Bhagavatar.
We are glad to share the masterpiece sung by Smt M.S. Subbulakshmi Amma which you can hear along with meaning from the following link.
