Nama japam

In Kurukshetra war Bhishma recited thousand names of Sriman Narayana and SriKrishna listened them peacefully, when Bhishma was laying on his bed of arrows, and awaiting death. We also should have a feeling that we came to this world and awaits death at any time. So we should recite the same Sahasranama before the almighty for Him to hear the same. When Yudhisthira asked him the way for one to have lasting peace of mind, such a remedy was given to us and so,Sri Vishnu Sahasranama is sure to give us a peaceful life to one and all. It is said at the end of that war, Yudhisthira, went to Bhishma, and posed (Maha bharatha Anusasana Parvam sec 149 slokas 14 to 20 ) the questions of Who is God ,refuge of all, prospects for attainment of peace of prosperity, greatest Dharma and finally asked whether meditation, Namas Japam makes one free from birth and death. Bhishma then responded this by reciting Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam and reminded him that either by meditating or by invoking the names through Archana , it is sure to lift our minds in highest supreme consciousness. Though there are many sahasranamams in praise of various Hindu Gods,as this one is heard by the supreme personality Sriman Narayana,The benefits are said to be such as One never meets with any evils here and hereafter. One never meets with fear at any time, never afflicted by any disease, calamity, fear, ills, and difficulties. Also, One succeeds in acquiring facility of soul forgiveness of disposition ,prosperity, intelligence, memory and fame. There is no wrath, jealousy, and cupidity to persons reciting this.Hence NamaMahimai is said to shower us with many such gifts.
