Heaven & hell

*SWARGAM & NARAGAM*

Once upon a time there lived a very pious, learned and charitable person.
From early morning to sunset he will be engaged in various religious Rituals
laid down in the Sasthras. He will treat the Athithis with great regard. He
was always truthful and humble. He was not greedy and did various Dhaana
Dharmam. He had a large family, blessed with dutiful wives, sons and
daughters. Everyone had great respect for him. He lived for a full hundred
years as laid down in our scriptures. (pasyema sardassatham, srunuvaama
saradassatham, jeevema sardassatham, Nandhaama saradassatham, Modhama
saradassatham.....) During his time there never was drought, flood,
disasters, pestilence etc. Everyone said he will go to Swargam.

By and by the day also came when he should leave. He did not regret as he
was learned and knew the inevitable. But deep inside him was the desire to
go to Swargam. Yamadharman was apprised by Chithragupthan of the accounts
and accordingly a notice was issued to him of the date and time of departure
out of regard ( not done for others). This person prayed to Brhma for
audience. Brhma climbed down from his perch on the lotus, appeared before
him and said " Son what is your desire?"

" Baghavan!. By your grace I had all that a person can want. Can you kindly
tell me what is my next destination?"

"Son, that is never revealed. You know that it is Karma that decides such
things"

But the person pleaded " I do not ask for a change. I only want to know what
I will be and an identification mark so that I can know myself"

Brhma being a soft God and easily gives Varams said " Son, Your next janmam
is a Pig in the gutter at the backyard of your house and your right ear will
have a white patch" and climbed back to his perch, and started tinkering
with his nuts and bolts. * (His wife Saraswathy was watching from her
white lotus. She wondered what her "Asadu" husband was up to, same way as
any other woman is wont to do. She did not know then that her husband was
creating a new species called "Compooter") * The person was grief
stricken. To be born as a pig after such a noble life was a blow. But being
a learned person he realised that, it is due to the *desire *for Swargam
that has brought the fall. He should have done everything without
desire, *"Nishkamya
Karma"*. He thought out a way to make that life short.

He called his sons and told them that after his death the pig at the
backyard will deliver piglets and he will be one of them with a white right
ear. They should club it to death without delay.

The D day came and the person breathed his last. He passed through the
various check points in the Yamalokam (passport, Visa, Customs clearance
etc.) and landed in the gutter at the backyard of his house along with lot
of siblings. His new mother fondled him, nursed him. He started playing
along with his brothers/sisters and was very happy.

His sons were watching and spotted their father with the white right ear.
They were very sad and remembered what their father had bade them to do. But
to club to death a baby, even if it is a pig, was too much! They had never
disobeyed their father. So hardening their hearts they took clubs and chased
the piglet. On seeing them the piglet ran and ran. When they were too close
it turned back and squealed

"Dont kill me, dont kill me"

The sons said " Appa! It is your order. You have lived a noble life, you
should have gone to Swargam, why do you want to live in this gutter?"

" No, No, this is not gutter, This is Swargam, So cool and soft and good
fragrant smell! See I have my Father, Mother, so many brothers , sisters.
They all love me. There is tasty food all round. I free you of my order. Go
back"

The sons heaved a sigh of relief. They soon forgot all about the happenings
and went back about their routines and performed Sraddham, Tharpanam
etc.regularly for their father in Pithr lokam.

Naradhan who came around told Thumburu " This person got what he wanted,
Swargam. Swargam or Narakam is what we make out by ourselves. All living
things have their own ideas about it "

Thumburu said " There is nothing like Swargam or Narakam"

OHM SHANTHI; SHANTHI; SHANTHIHI:::
