Upanishad Saara - Jnana dhaara
#75. Sadhana chatushtaya sampathi
Samadhana
As the name itself sugests, Samadhana is the tranquil state of Mind. Normally, external conditions are required to be conducive, for the Mind to remain calm - i.e. there should be no issues - in the family, profession, with friends, healthwise, financially, etc.
Even if there are no issues externally, one strong dersire is enough to make the Mind restless. As long as the Mind is immersed in worldly life, tranquility is almost impossible.
However, when the Mind has developed all the above described Sadhana chatushtaya sampathi (from Viveka to Shraddha), Samadhana will be an effortless state of Mind. We will see how:
1. With Vairagya born out of Nitya Anitya vastu viveka - Mind would not have any worldly desires, as the Buddhi has conviction that worldly objects or relations can only give Anitya sukha. Hence there is no point going behind them.
2. With Shama and Dama developed - the Mind would be Satvik in nature and hence naturally pleasant.
3. With Titiksha - Mind will remain composed some even during difficult situations.
4. With Shraddha in Upanishads - Mind will not worry about the bodily problems as it will have a strong conviction that 'I' continue to exist even if the body does not exist.
Hence we can see that with the Sadhana chatushtaya sampathi developed, there can't be any reason for the Mind to get disturbed at all and hence Samadhana will be a natural state of Mind.
