Initiation into ascetic order - Peetarohanam
As years passed, Nagaraja Sharma's inner craving for the Supreme intensified. He remained unfettered by worldly labels and spent most of His time in solace, contemplating on the Supreme Atma Tattva. He wished to lead a life of renunciation, in complete isolation from the external world. Eventually, He wrote a letter to the Sringeri Jagadguru Sri Bharathi Theertha MahaSwamiji, expressing His intent to study advance subjects of Sanskrit, Veda and Vedanta Shastras. The Sringeri Acharya, who divined the scholastic prowess and wisdom in the young Brahmachari, immediately called Him to Sringeri and arranged for His advance Vedic learning and practice.
Jagadguru Sri Bharati Theertha MahaSwamiji who was constantly guiding Nagaraja, had observed His pious, compassionate & saintly nature, His earnest desire to help others, His strong dispassion towards material life and firm dedication to Dharma. The Jagadguru saw in the young Brahmachari the divine potency and wisdom that could lead, guide and uplift the entire society.
Soon, at the order of the Sringeri Jagadguru Bharathi Theertha MahaSwamiji, on the
21st of May 2001,
Sri Nagaraja Sharma was initiated into Sanyasa and anointed as the Peetadhipathi of the renowned Shankaracharya Peetam of Sreemath Hariharapura. Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji Himself performed the Pattabhisheka ceremony and announced the young renunciate
Sri. Nagaraja Sharma as
"Sri Sri Swayampraksha Sachidananda Saraswathi",
the Peetadhipathi of Sreemath Hariharapura.
