My dear friends
When I was in USA with my son, several Malayalam speaking Hindus approached me for transliteration and translation of Ezhuthachan's Adhyathma Ramayana. I had not read this great book earlier. So as soon as I came back I procured a book published by Mathrubhumi which gives meaning for difficult words. I started the translation on May 5th and completed it on August 15th. On the day I started translating Kishkinda Kanda a big monkey entered my home (3rd floor in KOramangala , Bangalore) . I was alone in the house and was in another room. That monkey simply sat near my computer in a very peaceful manner. As soon as I came back , it left. The same thing happened when I started the translation of Sundara Kanda. I believe that indicates that God is blessing what I was doing. I have spent almost 800 hours of computer typing to finish the job. I never felt any tiresomeness because of it.
I would like to tell a few words about Adhyathma Ramayana. It is supposed to be written by Veda Vyasa and occurs in Brahmanda Purana. Lord Shiva relates the entire story to Parvathi . When Ezhuthachan did he translation , , Malayalam language was more of a Manipravalam , with 70-80% words from pure Sanskrit. He wrote it in mixed words , without splitting the sandhi and these two facts make the Malayalam version difficult to understand Also unlike Valmiki Ramayanam, Adhyathma Ramayanam is not a mere story of Rama. More than 20 stotras addressed to Rama occurs in that great book. It also has very many discussions on philosophy and propriety. In fact the famous "Rama Gita" occurs in it in Aranya Kandam . My translation occurs in

To the best of my knowledge Ezhuthachan's Adhyathma Ramayanam has not been translated in to English, though there is a famous translation of the Sanskrit Original by Swami Thapasyananda. This translation is not available in the web. More than 2500 people have read it in these four months. I request all of you to read it and get the blessings of God Rama.
