About the word рдЙрдкрджेрд╢ in Paninian Grammar
While studying the rules of Sanskrit grammar we usually find this word рдЙрдкрджेрд╢. What does this mean? Let us try to understand it in simple. Here рдЙрдк denotes the meaning рдЖрдж्рдп (primitive/foremost) and root рджिрд╢् means рдЙрдЪ्рдЪाрд░рдгрдо् (utterance, declaration). рдЖрдж्рдпाрдиाрдо् рдЙрдЪ्рдЪाрд░рдгрдо् = рдЖрдж्рдпोрдЪ्рдЪाрд░рдгрдо् means the utterance or declaration of foremost Grammarians such as Panini, Katyayana, Vararuchi etc.
What are those рдЙрдкрджेрд╢ा's? For this question there are two verses which answer it. Such as
1. рдк्рд░рдд्рдпрдпाः рд╢िрд╡рд╕ूрдд्рд░ाрдгि рдЖрджेрд╢ा рдЖрдЧрдоाрд╕्рддрдеा ।
рдзाрддुрдкाрдаो рдЧрдгрдкाрдард╢्рдЪ рдЙрдкрджेрд╢ाः рдк्рд░рдХीрд░्рддिрддाः ।।
¤ рдк्рд░рдд्рдпрдпाः = suffixes
¤ рд╢िрд╡рд╕ूрдд्рд░ाрдгि = Fourteen rules by Lord Maheshwara.
¤ рдЖрджेрд╢ाः = Substitutes.
¤ рдЖрдЧрдоाः = A grammatical augment, a syllable or letter inserted in any part of the radical word.
¤ рдзाрддुрдкाрдаः = ancient list of roots.
¤ рдЧрдгрдкाрдаः = Collection of words following the same grammatical rule.
2. рдзाрддुрд╕ूрдд्рд░рдЧрдгोрдгाрджिрд╡ाрдХ्рдпрд▓िрдЩ्рдЧाрдиुрд╢ाрд╕рдирдо् ।
рдЖрдЧрдордк्рд░рдд्рдпрдпाрджेрд╢ाः рдЙрдкрджेрд╢ाः рдк्рд░рдХीрд░्рддिрддाः ॥
¤ рдзाрддुः – Root of the verbal form/A verbal root. (рднू, рдЧрдо्, рдкрдЪ् etc).
¤ рд╕ूрдд्рд░рдо् – Rules. (рд╣рд▓рди्рдд्рдпрдо्, рд╡ृрдж्рдзिрд░ाрджैрдЪ् etc.)
¤ рдЧрдгः – Set of words (рдЕрдЬाрджिрдЧрдгः, рдн्рд╡ाрджिрдЧрдгः etc.).
¤ рдЙрдгाрджिः – Rules composed by рд╢ाрдХрдЯाрдпрди.
¤ рд╡ाрдХ्рдпрдо् – Sentence.
¤ рд▓िрдЩ्рдЧाрдиुрд╢ाрд╕рдирдо् – Rules on the gender/explanation of gender.
¤ рдЖрдЧрдоः – An augment (letters which are inserted or added).
¤ рдЖрджेрд╢ः – A substitute.
¤ рдк्рд░рдд्рдпрдпः – A suffix.
