Frog & snake - Sanskrit subhashitam

*५८२ . ।। समुपार्जयति ।।*

*उरगग्रस्तार्धतनुर्भेको*
          *अश्नातीह मक्षिकाः शतशः ।* 
*एवं गतायुरपि सन्* 
          *विषयान् समुपार्जयत्यन्धः ॥*

सापाने अर्धे शरीर गिळल्यानंतरही बेडूक जसा त्याच्या तोंडाजवळून उडणारे लहान कीटक खाण्यात आनंद मानतो तसा ज्ञानाच्या अभावाने अंध बनलेला मनुष्य मृत्यूच्या विळख्यात सापडलेला असतांनाही ऐहिक सुखांच्या उपभोगाची लालसा बाळगतो .

सांप के मूँह में आधा शरीर गया हुआ मेंढक जैसे उस के मूँह के पास से उडनेवाले छोटे कीट खाने में आनन्द का अनुभव करता हैं वैसे ही ज्ञान के अभाव से अंध बना मनुष्य मौत के आगोश में पहुँचने पर भी ऐहिक सुखों के उपभोग की कामना करता हैं ।

The frog that is caught in the mouth of a serpent , itself keeps swallowing the small insects that approach its mouth . Similarly , the man who is blinded by ignorance , though caught in the jaws of death , keeps going after sensual pleasures .
