ఈ ఎపిసోడ్ చాలా పొడవుగా ఉన్నప్పటికీ, చివరి వరకు చదవమని నేను భక్తులను అభ్యర్థిస్తున్నాను, ఎందుకంటే దీనిని రెండు భాగాలుగా పోస్ట్ చేస్తే దాని సారాంశం సడలిపోతుంది,అసంబద్దంగా వుంటుంది.
ఓ శిష్యుడి ఇంట్లో, గురువుల సమక్షంలో సహస్రనామ పాదపూజ జరుగుతున్నది. శ్రీ గురువుల దగ్గర టేబుల్ ఫ్యాన్ ఉంచబడింది. నైవేద్యం తీసుకువచ్చినప్పుడు, శ్రీ గురువులు పంకా (ఫ్యాన్) ను కొద్దిగా ప్రక్కకు త్రిప్పినారు. శిష్యుడ్ని పేరు పెట్టి పిలుస్తూ అతని దృష్టిని ఆకర్షించిన శ్రీ గురువులు, "లలితా సహస్రనామంలోని పేర్లు అతి రహస్యమైనవి, గూడార్థము కలిగినవి. ఉదాహరణకు, "అపర్ణ" పేరును పరిశీలించండి. హిమవంతుని కుమార్తె పార్వతిగా వ్యక్తమైన తరువాత, ఆ తల్లి శివుడిని పొందటానికి తీవ్రమైన తపస్సు చేసింది. ఆ సమయంలో, ఆమె ఒక్క ఆకు కూడా తినకుండా ఉపవాసం చేసింది. దీనిని గమనించిన దేవతలు ఒక్క ఆకు కూడా తినని ఆ తల్లిని 'అపర్ణ' అని ప్రశంసించారు. పేరుకు మరో అర్ధం కూడా ఉంది. "అప" మరియు "ర్ణ" గా విభజించండి అంటే ఋణం నుండి విముక్తి పొందిన వ్యక్తి అని అర్ధం. ఎవరైనా ఆమె పేరును స్మరించినప్పుడు, ఆమె తన భక్తుడి నుండి ఏదో అందుకున్నట్లు అనిపిస్తుంది. క్షణాలు ఆలస్యం చేయకుండా, ఆమె భక్తుడికి దయతో రుణం వుంచుకోకుండా తిరిగి చెల్లిస్తుంది. ఎవరైతే తన రుణాన్ని వెంటనే తీరుస్తారో ఆమెను నిజంగా అపర్ణ అని అంటారు. ఆమె ఏదీ తన దగ్గర వుంచుకొనదు. నామముల అర్థాన్ని దృష్టిలో ఉంచుకున్నప్పుడు, తెలుసుకున్నప్పుడు ఆరాధన యొక్క ఆనందం పెరుగుతుంది". అని పూజ్య గురువులు శెలవిచ్చినారు. అటు పిమ్మట శ్రీ గురువులు పూజను కొనసాగించమని శిష్యుడికి సైగ చేసి, ఫ్యాన్ ను యథాస్థితికి త్రిప్పినారు. పూజ ముగిసిన తరువాత, శ్రీ గురు చరణులు అందరినీ ఆశీర్వదించి వెళ్లిపోయినారు.
తరువాత ఆ రోజు శిష్యుడు జగద్గురువులు బస చేసియున్న శిబిరాలకు వెళ్ళాడు. భక్తులను అనుగ్రహిస్తున్న శ్రీ గురు చరణులను సమీపించి," నేను ఎంతో భాగ్యశాలిని, జగన్మాత యొక్క పవిత్ర నామం అయిన అపర్ణ యొక్క అర్ధాలను మీ ద్వారా విన్నందులకు నేను ఎంతో ఆశీర్వదించబడ్డాను. మీ పవిత్ర చరణముల ద్వారా ఉద్భవించిన ఈ కథ యొక్క రెండవ వ్యాఖ్యానం విని నేను ఎంతో ఆశ్చర్యపోయాను మరియు ప్రేరణ పొందాను.
HH: దాని కోసం నాకు గుర్తింపు, కీర్తిని ఇవ్వవద్దు. ఇందులో నా ప్రమేయం ఏమియూ లేదు.
శిష్యుడు: మీరు ఎంతో నమ్రత గల నిరాడంబరులు.
H.H: ఇది నమ్రత గురించిన ప్రశ్న కాదు. నేను నిజాయితీగా ఉన్నాను. నేను ఇచ్చిన అర్ధాలు లలిత-సహస్రనామం గురించి భాస్కరరాయ వ్యాఖ్యానంలో ఉన్నాయి.
శిష్యుడు: మీ పాద చరణముల నుండి నేను చాలా విలువైన పాఠాలు నేర్చుకుంటున్నాను. ఆరాధన సమయంలో జపించే నామం యొక్క అర్ధాన్ని, దాని ప్రాముఖ్యతను తెలుసుకోవడంలో ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ నిజాయితీగా ఉండాలి.
ఫ్యాన్ యొక్క స్థానాలను మార్చడంలో శ్రీ గురువుల యొక్క అంతరార్ధాన్ని నా సోదరుడు నాకు ఎత్తి చూపారు. తెచ్చిన నైవేద్యం చాలా వేడిగా ఉందని ఆయన నాకు చెప్పారు. నేను దానిని దేవతకు అర్పించే ముందు, మీరు పంకాను (fan) దాని వైపుకు త్రిప్పినారు. అది చల్లబడిన తరువాత, మరలా మీరు పంకాను (fan) యధా స్థానానికి పునరుద్ధరించినారు. నివేదన చల్లబడుతున్నప్పుడు, మీరు ప్రవచిస్తూ తద్వారా ప్రజల దృష్టిని నైవేద్యం వైపు ఆకర్షింపబడకుండా మరలిచినారు. మా చేత వేడి నైవేద్యం సమర్పణ నివారించడమే కాకుండా, మా తప్పు వలన మా వంశానికి ఎటువంటి అసౌకర్యం, కీడు జరగకుండా శ్రీ గురువులు మమ్ములను రక్షించినారు. గురు దేవుళ్ళ సాధారణ చర్యలు కూడా ఎంతో బోధనాత్మకమైనవి మరియు భద్రతతో కూడుకున్నవి.
ప్రశంసలను విస్మరించి శ్రీ గురువులు ఇలా అనుగ్రహించినారు, "పూజలు చేసేటప్పుడు, మనం వాస్తవానికి దేవుని సన్నిధిలోనే ఉన్నాము, కేవలం ఒక చిత్రం ముందు కాదు అన్న స్పృహ,భావన అందరికీ వుండాలి. మనము వేడిగా వున్న ఆహారాన్ని, చెడిపోయిన ఆహారాన్ని తినడానికి ఇష్టపడము, మరియు ఒక ముఖ్యమైన అతిథికి కూడా అలాంటి ఆహారాన్ని ఇవ్వము. అలాగే భగవంతునికి కూడా అలాంటి సమర్పణను ఇవ్వకూడదు. అదేవిధంగా మనం క్షీణించిన పువ్వులను, వాసన లేని పువ్వులను పక్కన పెట్టాలి మరియు క్రొత్త వాటిని మాత్రమే పూజకు సమర్పించాలి".

Episode 14 – August 20th 2019 The following episode has been taken from "Glimpses of Grace" Though this episode is long, I request the devotees to read till the end, as posting this in two parts will loose its essence. A Sahasranama padapuja was in progress at a disciple's house in the immediate presence of His Holiness. A table fan had been placed near His Holiness. When the naivedyam was brought, His Holiness casually turned the fan a little. Drawing the attention of the disciple by uttering his name, HH said, "The names in Lalitha Sahasranama are pregnant with import. For instance, consider the name "Aparna". After having manifested as Parvati, the daughter of Himavan, the Divine Mother performed intense penance to attain Lord Shiva. At that time, she fasted, without consuming even a leaf. Observing this, the Devas eulogized Her as Aparna, the one not having even a leaf. The name has another meaning too. Split as "Apa" and "rna" it means one who is free from debt. When anyone so much as utters a name of Hers, She feels as if She has received something from Her devotee. Without a moments delay, She repays the devotee by gracing him. She is thus truly Aparna, one who has discharged Her debt. When the meaning of names is kept in mind, the delight of worship is enhanced". His Holiness then gestured to the disciple to continue with the Puja and restored the fan to its original position. At the end of the Puja, HH blessed the assembled ones and left. Later that day the disciple went to the place where His Holiness was camping. Approaching His Holiness who was granting audience to the devotees, he said, "I am highly blessed to have heard from Your Holiness the meanings of Divine Mother's name Aparna. I was particularly wonder-struck and inspired by the novel second interpretation conceived by Your Holiness." H.H.: Don't give Me credit for it. It is not due to Me. Disciple: Your Holiness is extremely modest. H.H.: This is not a question of modesty. I am simply being honest. The meanings I gave are found in Bhaskararaya's commentary on the Lalitha-Sahasranamam. Disciple: Several are the valuable lessons that I have been learning from Your Holiness. The importance of knowing the meaning of what one chants during worship and that one should be scrupulously honest are but two of them. It was my brother who pointed out to me the significance of Your Holiness changing the positions of the fan. He told me that the naivedyam that had been, brought was extremely hot. Before I offered it to the Goddess, Your Holiness turned the fan towards it. When it had cooled, Your Holiness restored the fan to its original position. While the breeze was doing the cooling, Your Holiness was speaking and thus the attention of the people was not drawn to the naivedyam. Your Holiness not only ensured that unduly hot naivedyam was not offered but also that no discomfiture was caused to my family and me by the exposure of our mistake. How very instructive even the apparently casual actions of Your Holiness are and how very considerate Your Holiness is! Ignoring the eulogy, His Holiness just said, "When doing Puja, we should feel that we are actually in the presence of God and not of just an image. We would not want to eat food that is unpleasantly hot or spoilt nor would we offer such food to an important guest. This being the case, surely, we should avoid making such an offering to God. Likewise, we should set aside flowers that have decayed and offer only fresh ones."
