Where is the real youth? - Sanskrit subhashitam

*Where is the real youth? *

वसन्तयौवना वृक्षाःपुरुषा धनयौवनाः।
सौभाग्ययौवना नार्यो युवानो विद्यया बुधाः॥

Meaning:  The trees are youthful with spring; men are youthful with wealth; women are youthful with a caring husband and the scholars are youthful with their learning.
Explanation:  This is an observation on human nature. Youth symbolizes energy, enthusiasm and a joy of living. Youthful, cheerful, optimistic and learned person is always enthusiastic. His vision of life is clear and his activities help society.
The poet here says that the spring time of the year gives youthfulness to trees. Trees come into full bloom, bear fruits and appear attractive. Money gives youthfulness to men. Those without money are usually miserable and unable to fulfill any of their desires. Women may have position and wealth but it does not give completeness. Social achievement cannot compensate for the loneliness, anxiety and lack of affection in life. Good and pleasant family life with a caring husband gives youthfulness to women. Lastly, it is the intellectual achievement which is youthfulness for scholars.
