Gold becomes sad when weighed with a seed -Sanskrit subhashitam

 विदग्धा वाक् 

हेम्नः खेदो न तापेन च्छेदने कर्षणेन वा ।

तदेव हि परं दुःखं यद्गुञ्जासमतोलनम्॥

--सभाषितलसुधानन्दलहरी १०

सोने को जलाने से, काटने से, मोड़ने से- (उतना) खेद नहीं होता; पर रत्ती से उसे तोले जाने पर महान् दुःख होता है। [रत्ती- सोने को तोलने के लिए उपयोग करने वाला लालरंग का छोटा सा बीज]

By heating it up and melting in fire, by cutting it, rubbing it etc., gold is not unhappy; but it becomes sorrowful, when it to be weighed against 'gunja' (A precatorious small seed used to weigh gold against)
