Koshavan & thattan

Courtesy: Sri.N.Narayanan

A thattaan and a kosavan desired to gatecrash a Sadhya for Brahmins, and accordingly got a set of Poonals each, which they put on. They decided to sit at opposite corners, and follow what their neigbours did to avoid being detected as outsiders. All went well until the sambhar came along, upon which the kosavan, as was his wont, squashed it into the rice and made large balls before swallowing them. The Brahmin sitting next to him looked on in disgust before remarking "ennada, koshavan mathirin peshayare chaathai!" Thinking it was his friend who had betrayed him, he exclaimed "Naan koshavan ennu antha thattaana chonnaan?"
