Happy Diwali With A Rare Vishnu Stuti

Dear All,

Greetings and Namaste. I have not been able to keep up with my postings due to paucity of time. Many of you had written to me with several special requests on rare Storas - I would love to do my bit but unfortunately time has been a constraint. Apologies.

Nevertheless, I don't want to miss very important occasions like Deepavali, the Festival of Lights.

At the outset, may I extend my hearty greetings to you/your family/your kith & ken a Very Happy & Prosperous Deepavali festivities. May Lord Bless You With Abundance in all facets of your lives!

As Deepavali festival metaphorically embodies the triumph of Light (Gyana) over Darkness (Agyana) through the guidance and support of Lord, I am happy to share a rare hymn on Lord Vishnu by Sage Kandu taken from Brahma Puranam (Chapter 178) titled Kandu Upakhyanam, which reverberates this message.

Sage Kandu prays to Lord Vishnu as All-encompassing in all forms. Many of the verses run parallel to Purusha Suktam. The quintessential message, though nothing new, is important to remember in the metaphorical context of this festival as Hindu society, unfortunately, has been asundered by the insipid/jejune prejudices relating to forms over substance, egotism/elitism over practicality of plurality and pettiness over grandeur.

May Lord Lead Us In the Righteous Direction lest we squander ourselves. As Azhwar mentions beautifully, he is the Ultimate Physician for our illness (cycle of birth and death arising as a sequel to karma borne out of Agyana)

மருத்துவனாய் நின்ற மாமணி வண்ணா! இப்பிறவி சேரத் தவிர்த்து உன் திருக்கோயில் கடைப்புகப்பெய் திருமாலிருஞ்சோலை எந்தாய்!

Once again wishing you all a very happy Diwali!
