जन्माद्यस्य यत:
Janmaadhyasya Yathaha
|| 2 || (Brahma Sutra 1.i.2) based on Ramakrishna Math translation of
Shankara's commentary:
(That) यत: Yata: from which
(are derived) जन्मादि janmaadi Origin etc. (i.e. sustenance and dissolution) of अस्य Asya this
(Universe) from which…….(Brahman????). One divine essence form which all created
things emanate or with which they are identified and to which they are
returned..the Self existent, the Absolute, the Eternal!! (ref also: Monier
Williams dictionary pp 738 col 1 for Brahman)
Interestingly, these very words get echoed as the very
first line of Srimad Bhagavatam 1.1.1 (Janmaadyasya yat: anvayaaditaratasca etc….
"Meditate on that transcendent Reality from whom this Universe springs up, in
whom it abides and into whom it returns..etc etc"
Hence verse 3....पिबत भागावतम् रसमालयम् शुकमुखादमृतद्रवसम्युतम्
