Inner meanings based on Sri Perukkaarani swami
commentary
Amongst all the Divya Prabhandams Andal's Divya Prabdhnadams are the most
exalted, even amidst Her two Prabandams, Thiruppavai holds the highest place.
The words ' Naanethaan Ayiduga' in today's paasuram are particularly significant.
Hence Today's paasuram is considered as "Thiruppaavayilum Thiruppaavai", and
has many in depth meanings. Here Andal elucidates the very essence of
SriVaishnavam, i.e. baagavata seshattvam (servants to servant of the Lord). This is
glorified by azhwars in many instances; e.g.
Namazhwar says ""endai pirAn tanakku adiyAr adiyAr tam adiyAr adiyAr tamakku
adiyAr adiyAr tam adiyAr adiyOngalE".
Kulasekara azhwar says "tvat bhritya bhritya parichAraka bhritya bhritya bhrityasya
bhritya iti mAm smara".
This is the last one in the set of 6th -15th where Andal awakens the ten prime Gopis
and set to be in dialogue mode.
Andal awakens all Jeevans who are imprisoned in the cage of samsaaram like a bird
("iLam KiLIyE") whose wings are clipped. Andal awakens ('yellE') the Jeevans who
loiter in in the cycle of births and deaths without attempting to gain Jnanam ('innam
uranguthiyO'. Andal further advises them to join the Baagavatha goshti and engage
in Bagavat & Baagavatha Kainkaryam('pOtharhinREn').
Andal reminds us stories ('vallai un katturaikaL') of the sages Rishyasingar and
Saubhari from Upanishad. The material sense enjoyment is like a forest fire; it can
never be quenched. Andal thus instructs us to join Baagavata goshti; those who
have achieved detachment from materialistic pleasures ('naanE thAnn aayiduha') by
engaging in Bagavat & Baagvata Kainkaryam (pOn^thaar pOn^thu eNNikkoL).
Now Andal reminds the Lord, to destroy our desires for sense enjoyment and help us
engage in Bagavat & Baagavta Kainkaryam ('mARRazhikka VallAnai Maayanaip
Paadu'). She gives the example of how Krishna changed the mind of Arjuna in
Mahabaaratam. In essence Andal instructs us to engage in Baagvata Kainkaryam.
