Parikshit coronation

Arjuna arrive with grief from Dwaraka

Arjuna, who had accompanied Lord Krishna to Dwaraka, had not yet returned to Hastinapur. King Yudhishtira observed many contrary happenings in the seasons of the year: He sent for Bhima and said, it is seven months since our younger brother Arjuna had proceeded to Dwaraka. I am not able to perceive the reason for his not returning so far.

Lord Krishna, by whose grace, wealth, kingdom, consorts, well-being, respectful family, people and victory over adversaries all accrued to us; by whose favour the worlds came under our suzerainty; that moment has arrived for that Bhagavan as Narada said, to shed the human form which He took in sport. The portents, both earthbound and skyward, are confounding the intellect and are alarming:

My left thigh, left eye and left arm are throbbing. The dogs bay pointedly at me. Auspicious animals like cows and inauspicious donkey-like are circumbulating me contrarily, i.e. left wise and right wise respectively. These and many other evil omens point to the earth losing the glitter of Krishna's footprints forthwith.

Just then Arjuna arrived from Dwaraka and prostrated before the king. Arjuna's face was grief-stricken and bent with copious tears falling from his eyes; his body was shorn of the light and was unsteady.

Quivering in body and mind and remembering Sage Naradas foreboding that Yudhishtira would last as long as Krishna was around on earth, Yudhishtira anxiously enquired of Arjuna, individually of all those at Dwaraka and in particular of Krishna and his court Sudharma.

Arjuna restraining his tears and in a choking voice replied:

Lord Krishna has deprived me of my prowess. The prowess with which I could surpass even the Devas, that prowess is robbed from me by that relation-looking Hari. Through His grace, I could aim my arrow through the resplendent whirling mechanism and shoot down the object, win the hands of Draupadi and subdue the disappointed suitors. By His blessedness, I could conquer the devas, surrounded by Indra.

Due to His blessing on us, the vassal kings all over the globe, waited on us with offerings at the Rajasuya sacrifice. It was through His grace, Bhima could slay Jarasandha, the otherwise invincible Rakshasa, and thus set free the numerous princes imprisoned by him.
It was He who protected Draupadi from ignominy at the fully assembled court of Dhritarashtra and Duryodana. It was He who saved us from the impending imprecation of the 1OOO disciples Sage, Durvasa, who, inspired by Duryodhana, sought hospitality from us when the Akshayyapatra had already yielded its bounty for the day.

By Krishnas grace, Parameshwar bestowed on me Pasupatastra and other Gods also gave me weapons; it was due to Krishna that I could occupy Indra's throne along with Indra and conquer the adversaries of the devas Nivadakavacha.

It was through Krishna's strength that I could conquer super-heros like Bhishma and others; I could restore the cattle-wealth of Virata King by conquering the Kaurava warriors, only through Krishna's grace.

Acting as my charioteer, Krishna deprived our formidable foes of their lives by mere look and their mighty weapons were rendered futile before us and we survived superhuman adversaries.

Sharing his bed, seats, travelling, boasting, eating and all together, that Krishna, whose feet, sages and seers worship non-stop for obtaining liberation, He bore my sarcasm as a friend, and as a father to son.

I am separated from Krishna! I am soul-less.

I, who was guarding, escorting the womenfolk of the Lord, was defeated by the lowly forces, as if I were a woman.

The very appurtenances, (rulers bowed to me due to their valour), the same bow, the same arrows, the same chariot, the same charioteer, (who I was) and the same Gandiva, all those which were resplendent when Krishna was around, they became futile and waste like oblations poured over ashes; like wealth created by illusion (magicians) and like seeds on Kazhar soil (barren land).

By the deep-rooted kinship of Krishnas and concentrating and dwelling on Krishnas feet, Arjuna's mind attained clarity and became detached, totally devoid of earthly cravings. Arjuna attained the same wisdom that was imparted at the commencement of the Mahabharata war (Gita), which had become jaded due to the intervening circumstances, but now got revived and the illusion in Arjuna's mind was removed.

2. Yudhishitira aim for liberation

Yudhishtira, knowing the divine ordainment (Path), learning of the destruction of Yadava race, became steady-minded and projected his mind on liberation. KUNTI, HAVING HEARD OF THE HAPPENINGS, SHED HER BODY.

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.
Happy moments, praise God.
Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God.
Painful moments, trust God.

  Every moment, thank God
