From the taittirIyopanishhat 3.11

 

अहमस्मि प्रथमजा ऋता३स्य । पूर्वं देवेभ्योऽमृतस्य ना३भाइ । यो मा ददाति स इ देव मा३वाः । अहमन्नमन्नमदन्तमा३द्मि । अहं विश्वं भुवनमभ्यभवा३म् । सुवर्णज्योतिीः । य एवं वेद । इत्युपनिषत् ॥३.११॥ 

" chaturmukha - brahmA declares that I am born from Lord vishhNu before other gods. I am the abode of the liberated. He who propagates the glory of the Lord vishhNu comes to me. I am enjoyed by Lord vishhNu. I enjoy all jIvas. I occupy the whole world, but I am directed by the Supreme God. chaturmukha - brahmA primarily knows this glory of the Supreme God. "
