Bhukkunda

Once upon a time there was a poet named Bhukkunda. For some reason, he was ordered to be executed by the King. As was the practice
 
in those days Bhukkunda was asked by the executioner if he had any last message. Then Bhukkunda made a sloka and gave it to him to be sent to the king. He also asked him to wait for the king's response.
 
Here it is :
 
भट्टिर्नष्टो भारवीयोपि नष्ट:
 
भिक्षुर्नष्टो भीमसेनोपि नष्ट: /
 
भुक्कुन्ण्टोहं भूपतिस्त्वं हि राजन्
 
भब्भापद्धतिमन्तक: सन्निविष्ट: //
 
 
 
Meaning though clear :
 
Bhatti is gone.
 
Bhaaravi is gone.
 
Bhikshu is gone,
 
Bhiimasena is gone.
 
Bhukkunda that is me is going.
 
The next in this order is yourself
 
Bhuupati. Yama is climbing the
 
steps in alphabetical order
 
भ भा भि भी भु भू
 
The story is that the king appreciated the poetry of Bhukkunda and let him free.
