Normally the dead skin of animals are considered unsacred and if we come in contact with them we have to take bath and get purified. But there are some exceptions. Deer skin or tiger skin are considered pure and doing dhyana or japa sitting on them increases concentration and are classified as pure in the shastras. Uchishtam, shiva nirmalyam, vamanam, mritakarpatamkaakavishta samdbhootam, pancha pootani bharata."
The milk from the cow after the calf had its share, Ganga waters coming down from the head of Shiva, the honey which is the juice vomitted by honey bees, and silk cloth made of after killing the silk worm and extracted from the dead cacoon (including deer skin and tiger skin) are considered sacred as per our scriptures.
