Yoga,Kundalini & vaidic ways

========================
Too much is written in these on Yoga, Kundalini and other techniques etc., which is meant for chosen few who have the right mental attitude and mastery on the control of their senses, as if this is a commodity. hence the below clarification based on Vedas:

Westerners are enamored by Kundalini and its enormous powers, yoga etc., Many come to India and practice and take it to the western world. It is true yoga techniques awaken Kundalini when practiced in the right way with a right Guru but it is not possible for common men like us because of need for strict control over all senses.
The other point is: Awakening Kundalini is nothing but ( ekagra chit) one pointedness of mind. That is all. This nothing connected with Deavika shakti. With one pointedness of mind one can go higher up provided one solicit for the grace of God. But stopping at Kundalini to gain health, to gain extraordinary powers etc., is only useful in this physical domain and cannot free us from births and deaths cycle.
The goal of freeing ourselves from this cycle of births and deaths is possible only thru' grace of God. Kundalini, yoga, breathing techniques, any other techniques are all , sure good for health of body and mind but these practices and mastering techniques alone cannot free us. What can free us is only Grace of God. With the grace of God it is possible to get everything, if one so wish, which is gotten thru' various techniques like yoga etc., Even various siddhis are not talked about in Vedas because these Siddhis can bind oneself to this world. These techniques (and philosophies other than Adwaitam) tell us only about Sadhana ( ways and means) but not sadhyam ( end result). Only Adwaitam alone thru' Vaidic means declares what is Sadhyam or the end result of such practice.

The above said are the reasons why our Sanatana Dharma doesn't advocate FOR ALL any special technique. The most common goal is to earn the grace of God and our Sanantana Dharma specifies simple ways integrating with our daily life taking into account the desires of a common human being. For example: Tarpanam for the departed souls, or Japa during eclipse times or Daan during eclipse times, everyday prayer during the three Sandhya Kalams etc., + conduct like treating parents as God, not uttering lies, stealing etc.,, as per Upanishad statement . Vedas talk about worship of nature in different forms as Gods. That is why we have countless Gods. When Vedas talk of Varuna, it will praise in such a way that there is no God superior to Varuna, like wise Sun etc., Ultimately Vedas end saying all these are only forms of One Supreme, we call God.
If you carefully analyse, Vedas make us live a happy life here, protecting nature, at the same time taking us step by step thru' self purification process qualifying us to earn the grace of God and once we have the grace of God in poornam (full) we will understand : who am I? who is God? What is the relationship between me and God?.

In line with Vedas, Ithasas ( Ramayana, Mahabharat), Purans all teach the essentials to make us free from births and deaths so that even if one doesn't go thru' mastering Vedas one can still grasp the philosophies thru' Puranas.
Thru' Puranas, many were the poems, by the Bhaktas to attract the common folks preventing them going astray in life. This is the reason only in Bharat we have unprecedented number of Bhakthas, stories on God and folk songs on Gods sung by great Mahans who came down from their level to reach common folks.

It is better not to waste time in practicing some techniques, thinking our life's purpose will be achieved, for which we have no aptitude ( like asking a student to go thru' Mathematics specialization whereas his aptitude is for literature). Better go in our tried and tested way of Bhakti, duty (Karma) and conduct (Aacharanam) in our life as per shastras to make us "free" which is common for all.

It is said by Jagadguru Sri Brhamananda Saraswati Swamigal ( Shankaracharya of BadriPeetam in Joshi mutt) (who was the Guru of Maharishi Mahesh yogi) that – for Lord Rama even before He wishes some thing the devatas for wishes come and fulfill. Lord Ram was born and acted as an ordinary human being ( because Ravana `s boon that he can be killed only by a human) . If we try to follow Lord Ram that will serve our life's purpose instead of going in search of some techniques and there are chances of our getting duped by some techniques.

Besides this the main point is: all these yogic power , kundalini etc will lead one no where unless these powers are used to unite ones "Self" ( Aatma) with Paramatma. Even uniting this power by oneself is not possible thru' our effort alone; Grace of God has to complement and supplement all our efforts.
Therefore, our seers like Bhaghawan Vedavyasa and other rishsis, Bhaghawan Adi Sankara and other acharyas established for us the common folks the ways to earn the grace of God, without which nothing works. Their way for the common folks is simple- Satsangh

What does Satsangh do? it does the same thing one achieves by Yoga and Kundalini which is nothing but an exercise of high order and merit to keep ones mind fixed in one thing ONLY. The Nagas do this by smoking Ganja etc., the siddhas do the same and attain various Siddhis. But do these Siddhis help one to achieve the ultimate goal of freeing oneself from cycles of birth and deaths? For freeing ourselves many philosophies and religions talk differently and every one of them say that we need to go Vaikuntam, Kailash, or Heaven, etc., to achieve this end. The only philosophy, rooted in Upanishads, Adwaita declare :" here and here itself one can become a Jeevan Mukta" and that is the Goal. We have not seen Vaikunt or other lokas ; when we have not seen these lokas there is a doubt how can we go and with what body? etc.,

In order to attain the end (Jeevan Mukti) Satsangh is the first step. Mind cannot be controlled so easily ; the more we try, the more it will resist like a spring rebounding. what is meant by mind control in adwaitic texts is to divert the mind from bad to good and in course of time the mind does not think of anything else other than good and further in time even the good thoughts fall down when one losses ones identity dissolving in the chosen form and after dissolution there is no form left.
Satsangh is the easy way to follow by anybody in status, mental maturity ( high or low) to bring all senses to control. Srimad Bhaghavadam ( which is the only one text even the highest sanyasi order is supposed to read) talks very clearly only through Satsangh one can achieve the ultimate end.
IN olden days temples where the places for satsangh . ( Swami Samartha Ramadas, an avatar of Hanuman, constructed 1000+ temples for Hanuman thru' out Bharat and arranged for Ramayan Pravachan every day in all these temples, Chatrapati Shivaji supported his Guru's activites). Today some people go to temple to say "hi" to God, some to fulfill wishes, some go out of fear, and very very few go to see their beloved God. Though this type of Bhakti to make a deal with God is spoken as the lowest form of devotion nevertheless it is Bhakti at the starting point and those people believe in the existence of God.

Lord Krishna the Yogeshwar talking about Yoga is this: the word Yoga is from the root Yuj - means to unite . Unite what? Jeevatma and Paramatma . The Glorious Bhaghavadpadal said : " swa swaroopa anusnaDhanam Bhakthi: itapiDheeyate " ( Bhakti means meditating on Aatma as Paramaatma)

Let's not turn to the so called short cuts and let's go in the way followed thru' many many yugas by the great Mahans of Bharatvarsh namely- Bhakti, Karma and Aacharanam as laid out in our Shastras .
