harshamaayuyuh or harshanirbharaaH = were happy. (because they can the body)

kauravaaH = those with wicked voices = jackals/foxes

?
தென்புலத்தார், தெய்வம் என்று குறள் சொல்வதில் இரண்டாவதான தேவ காரியத்துக்கு வருகிறேன்.
ஒவ்வொரு குடும்பத்திலும் ஈசுவர பூஜை நடக்க வேண்டும். செனகரியப்பட்டவர்கள் விஸ்தாரமான பூஜைகளை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு செய்யலாம். செனகரியமில்லாவிடில் சுருக்கமாக செய்தாலும் போதும். பத்தே நிமிஷம் போதும்.ஆபீடுக்குப் போகிறவர்களும் இப்படிச் சுருக்கமாகவாவது பூஜை என்ற ஒன்றை செய்ய வேண்டும். எல்லாக் குடும்பத்திலும் ஒரு மணிச் சத்தம் கேட்க வேண்டும்.
ஈசுவரன், அம்பாள், விஷ்ணு, நிநாயகர், சூரியன் இந்த ஐந்து பேருக்கும் மூர்த்தி வைத்துப் பூஜை செய்ய வேண்டும். இதற்குப் பஞ்சாயதான பூஜை என்று பெயர். அங்கங்களோடு விக்கிரகங்களாக இல்லாமல் இந்த ஐந்தையும் இயற்கையாகவே கிடைக்கும் ஐந்து வஸ்துக்களில் ஆவாஹனம் செய்து பூஜை செய்வது சம்பிரதாயம்.
இவற்றில் ஈசுவரனுக்குரிய பாண லிங்கம் நர்மதை நதியில் ஓங்கார குண்டத்தில் கிடைக்கிறது. அம்பிகையின் ஸ்வரூபமான ஸ்வர்ணமுகி சிலா என்ற கல் ஆந்திராவில் ஸ்வர்ணமுகி ஆற்றில் கிடைக்கிறது. அது தங்க ரேக் ஒடிய கல். விஷ்ணுவின் வடிவமான ஸாலக்கிராமம் நேபாளத்தில் கண்டகி நதியில் அகப்படுகிறது. சூரியனுக்கிறிய ஸ்படிகம் தஞ்சாவூரில் வல்லத்துக்குப் பக்கத்தில் கிடைக்கிறது.
விநாயகருக்கு உருவான சோணபத்ரக் கல், கங்கையிலே கலக்கிற சோணா (ஸோன் என்பார்கள்) நதியில் அகப்படுகிறது. ஆக, இந்த ஐந்தையும் ஒரிடத்தில் வைத்தால் இந்தத் தேசம் முழுவதையுமே ஒன்று சேர்த்து வைத்தது போல் ஆகும்.
இந்த ஐந்தில் ஒன்றுக்காவது கண், மூக்கு, காது இல்லை. எனவே, இடுக்குகளில் அழுக்கேறுவது கிடையாது. அபிஷேகம் செய்து துடைக்க நாழியே ஆகாது. எல்லாம் சின்னச் சின்ன கற்கள்.எல்லாமாகச் சேர்ந்தாலும் கொஞ்சம் இடத்தைத்தான் அடைத்துக் கொள்ளும். பெரிய பூஜா மண்டபம் கூடத் தேவையில்லை. ஒரு சின்ன சம்புடத்தில் போட்டு வைத்து விடலாம். ஆவாஹணம் பண்ணி, சந்தனம், குங்குமம் அக்ஷதை வைத்து,
அர்ச்சனை செய்து நைவேத்தியம் காட்டலாம்.
வெளியூருக்குப் போதும்போதுகூடப் பத்து நிமிஷம் இப்படிப் பூஜை செய்வதில் சிரமமில்லை. வெளியூரில் அர்சனைக்குப் பூ கிடைக்குமா என்று கவலைப்பட வேண்டாம். வில்வதிதையும் துளசியையும் உலர்த்தி வைத்துக் கையில் எடுத்துப் போனால் ஈசுவரனையும் விஷ்ணுவையும் அதனாலேயே அர்ச்சிக்கலாம். மற்றவர்களுக்கு அக்ஷதையால் அர்ச்சனை செய்யலாம். நைவேத்தியத்துக்கு சுத்தமான அன்னம்
வெளியூர்களில் கிடைக்குமா என அலட்டிக்கொள்ள வேண்டாம். காய்ந்த திரா¬க்ஷப் பழத்தைக் கையோடு
வைத்திருந்து நிவேதித்து விடலாம்.
ஐந்து மூர்த்திகள், துளஸி - வில்வ பத்திரங்கள், திரா¬க்ஷ, அக்ஷதை இந்த எல்லாவற்றையுமே கையடக்கமாக ஒரே சம்புடத்தில் போட்டு வைத்துக் கொண்டு விடலாம்.
இந்த ஐந்து மூர்த்திகளுக்குச் செய்வது பஞ்சாயதன பூஜை எனப்படும். பிராசீனமாக நம் தேசத்தில் இருந்து வந்த இந்தப் பத்ததியை சங்கர பகவதி பாதாள் புது ஜீவனோடு பிரகாசிக்கும் படியாகச் செய்தார். ஷண்மத ஸ்தாபனம் என்று வருகிறபோது இவற்றோடு சுப்பிரமணிய உபாஸனையையும் நிலை நாட்டினார். எனவே, மேலே சொன்ன ஐந்தோடு நாமும் ஒரு வேளை வைத்து வேலாயுதனை பூஜிக்கலாம்.
பூஜை என்பதற்காக பெரிய சிரமம் எதுவும் தேவையில்லை. மனசு இருந்தால் வெகு சுலபத்தில் எல்லோரும் எங்கேயிருந்தாலும் பூஜை செய்யலாம் என்பதற்காக இவ்வளவு சொன்னேன்.
வீட்டிலே இருந்தால் மகா நைவேத்தியம் எனப்படும் அன்னத்தை ஸ்வாமிக்குக் காட்ட வேண்டியது அவசியம். நாம் அநுபவிப்பதற்காகப் பிரபஞ்சம் முழுவதையும் ஈசுவரன் நமக்கென விட்டிருக்கிறார். பலவிதமான போக்கிய வஸ்துக்களை வெளியிலே உம்டாக்கி, அவற்றை அநுபவிக்கிற இந்திரியங்களை நம்மிடம் வைத்திருக்கிறார். எனவே, நாம் அநுபவிப்பதையெல்லாம் அவருக்குச் சமர்ப்பித்துவிட்டே
உபயோகித்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். உண்மையில் அவருக்கே என்றா அன்னத்தைக் கொடுத்து விடுகின்றோம். வெறுமே அவரிடம் காட்டுகிறோம். பிறகு நாம்தான் புசிக்கிறோம்.
நைவேத்தியம் செய்தால் ஸ்வாமி எங்கே சாப்பிடுகிறார் என்று சிலர் கேலியாகக் கேட்கிறார்கள். நிவேதனம் என்றால் ஸ்வாமியைச் சாப்பிடவிடுவது என்று அர்த்தமேயில்லை. அவருக்கு சாப்பிட்டு ஒன்றும் ஆக வேண்டாம். நம் நினைவினை சுத்தமாக்கிக் கொள்ளத்தான் பூஜை முழுவதுமே தவிர, அவருக்கு இதனால் ஆவது ஒன்றுமில்லை. நிவேதயாமி என்றால் அரிவிக்கிறேன் என்று அர்த்தமே தவிர,
உண்பிக்கிறேன் என்று அர்த்தமில்லை. அப்பனே, இந்த வேளைக்கு உந் கருணையில் நீ இந்த அன்னத்தைக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறாய் என்று அவனுக்குத் தெரிவித்துவிட்டு அவனுடைய நினைவோடு உண்ண வேண்டும். அவன் அருள் இல்லாவிட்டால் இந்த அரிசி எப்படி விளையும். ஸயன்ஸ் நிபுணர் அரிசி வகைகளை ஆராய்ந்து பெரிய பெரிய புஸ்தகங்கள் எழுதலாம். ஆனால் அவரால் ஒரு மணி அரிசியைச் செய்யமுடியுமா. செய்ற்கை
அரிசி  என்று ஒன்றைச் செய்ய முடிந்தால்கூட இதற்கு மூலமாக கெமிகல்ஸ் ஏற்கனவே பகவத் சிருஷ்டியில் இருந்துதானே வந்தாக வேண்டும். எனவே மனிதன் செய்ததாகத் தோன்றும் எல்லாமும்கூட முடிவிலே ஈஸ்வரன் சிருஷ்டித்ததுதான். பரமேஷ்வரனால் கொடுக்கப்பட்டதை அவனுக்குக் காட்டாமலே நாம் அநுபவித்தால் திருடர்களாகின்றோம்.
எங்கும் இருக்கும் அவன், நாம் இருக்கச் சொல்லும் இடத்தில், நாம்
கிரகிக்கும்படி நிற்பான். கல், மண், செம்பு முதலிய எந்த பிம்பத்தில் வைத்துக் கூப்பிட்டாலும் வருவான். அப்படிப்பட்ட யோக்கியதையும், கருணையும் அவனுக்கு நிச்சமாக இருக்கிறது. இல்லை என்றால் அப்படிப்பட்ட ஸ்வாமி நமக்கு வேண்டவே வேண்டாம்.
அவனைப் பூஜை என்று வைத்து ஒவ்வொரு குடும்பத்திலும் கூப்பிட்டு, அவனால் கொடுக்கப்பட்டதை உபயோகிக்கிறோம் என்று அன்றாடம் அறிவிக்க வேண்டும். இப்படிச் செய்து வந்தால் ஈஸ்வரனுக்கு நிவேதனமாக அர்ப்பிக்கத்தக்கதைத்தவிர வேறெதையுமே நாம் உபயோகிக்கக்கூடாது என்ற பக்குவம் நாளடைவில் உண்டாகும். நல்லவர்களாவோம்.

Wine & water

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine.. .

and those who don't.

As Ben Franklin said:

In wine there is wisdom,
in beer there is freedom,
in water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials,

scientists have demonstrated that if we drink

1 liter of water each day,

at the end of the year we would have absorbed

more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli , (E. coli) - bacteria  

found in feces.

In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop..

However,

we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer

(or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor)

because alcohol has to go through a purification process

of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.
             
  

Remember:


Water = Poop,
   Wine  = Health.


Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,
than to drink water and be full of crap
.

Conquer of enemies!

In the grand epic Mahabharata, Dritarashtra questions Kanika Maharishi about the ways in which the rivals have to be won over. Kanika Maharishi answers the question by narrating the following interesting story.

In a forest, there lived a fox which had a tiger, jackal, mongoose and a rat as its companions. Though the fox was friendly with the four of them, it was selfish by nature. One day the five friends saw a herd of deer and desired to have the leader of the herd for their day's meal. But due to the swiftness of the deer, they knew that it would be a difficult task to get hold of it. So the five of them sat to think.

At that moment the fox said to the tiger, "How much ever you may try, you will not be able to catch the deer on your own. So listen to my plan. When the deer is asleep, let the rat bite off its leg. Due to the pain caused by the injury, the deer will be incapable of running swiftly. You may then catch it easily and kill it for the five of us to share."

Everyone acknowledged the fox's plan and the rat bit the deer's leg as bid by the rest. The tiger now pounced on the wounded deer and killed it.

The five friends encircled the dead deer and were ready for having their share when the fox said, "I will wait here while the rest of you can go have your bath and return. Once the four of you return, it will be my turn to go for a bath. We can share the food once I am back." When the four of them left, the fox contemplated very seriously and hit upon a plan.

Tiger was the first one to return from its bath. The fox sat near the deer with a long face. The tiger asked, "Friend! What is it that has upset you when we are actually going to have a treat?" The fox replied,

"Times are indeed bad! Do you know what that rat told about you who are the most powerful? It said - 'The tiger could kill the deer only with my help. Indeed the tiger is devoid of any bravery or self esteem! That it should eat the food procured through my effort! ?. Alas! A great insult indeed to a brave one like you!"

Hearing these words the tiger said angrily, "Fie upon the food got with the help of a feeble thing like rat! I wouldn't think of touching it! I will eat only that food which is acquired purely by my effort and strength." Saying so, the tiger left the place.

The next to come was the rat. To it the fox said, "Dear Rat! Do you know what the mongoose told me? It seems since the tiger used its nails to kill the deer, it must be poisoned. So it refused to have its share. Now that you are my friend I'll tell you another secret. Since the mongoose has no other option, it is planning to have you for its meal!" Hearing this the rat ran off in order to save its life.

It was jackal's turn now. The fox said, "Friend! Listen to the secret that I have to tell you. The tiger is indeed very angry with you. It has gone to fetch its wife in order to kill you. So hurry up! Finish off your share and go away immediately lest the tiger should catch you!" Thinking that it would indeed be a waste of time to eat the deer at this point of emergency, the jackal just ran off to save itself from the impending danger.

The last to come was the mongoose. The fox said, "At last you have come! I was waiting just for you. Unable to contest with me the other three ran away. You are the only one left. If you really want to have your share you may defeat me in a fight and take the deer."

The mongoose replied, "If a strong animal like tiger, angry animal like jackal and intelligent one like rat could not stand your tricks, I have no chance! You may have the deer yourself!" Saying so, the mongoose too left.

Pleased with its own plan and its successful execution the fox happily feasted on the entire deer without having to share it with the other four animals.

The ruler should also be like this fox. He should use different methods to defeat various enemies. One should win over the cowards by terrifying them, the brave by tricking them, the greedy by giving them many riches and the weak by our valor."

Vanilla Ice Cream that puzzled General Motors!!!!

An Interesting Story

Never underestimate your Clients' Complaint, no matter how funny it might seem!

This is a real story that happened between the customer of General Motors and its Customer-Care Executive. Please read on.....

A complaint was received by the Pontiac Division of General Motors:

'This is the second time I have written to you, and I don't blame you for not answering me, because I sounded crazy, but it is a fact that we have a tradition in our family of Ice-Cream for dessert after dinner each night, but the kind of ice cream varies so, every night, after we've eaten, the whole family votes on which kind of ice cream we should have and I drive down to the store to get it. It's also a fact that I recently purchased a new Pontiac and since then my trips to the store have created a problem....

You see, every time I buy a vanilla ice-cream, when I start back from the store my car won't start. If I get any other kind of ice cream, the car starts just fine. I want you to know I'm serious about this question, no matter how silly it sounds "What is there about a Pontiac that makes it not start when I get vanilla ice cream, and easy to start whenever I get any other kind?" The Pontiac President was understandably skeptical about the letter, but sent an Engineer to check it out anyway.

The latter was surprised to be greeted by a successful, obviously well educated man in a fine neighbour-hood. He had arranged to meet the man just after dinner time, so the two hopped into the car and drove to the ice cream store.

It was vanilla ice cream that night and, sure enough, after they came back to the car, it wouldn't start. The Engineer returned for three more nights. The first night, they got chocolate. The car started.

The second night, he got strawberry. The car started.

The third night he ordered vanilla. The car failed to start. Now the engineer, being a logical man, refused to believe that this man's car was allergic to vanilla ice cream. He arranged, therefore, to continue his visits for as long as it took to solve the problem. And toward this end he began to take notes: He jotted down all sorts of data: time of day, type of gas uses, time to drive back and forth etc.

In a short time, he had a clue: the man took less time to buy vanilla than any other flavour. Why? The answer was in the layout of the store. Vanilla, being the most popular flavour, was in a separate case at the front of the store for quick pickup.

All the other flavours were kept in the back of the store at a different counter where it took considerably longer to check out the flavour.

Now, the question for the Engineer was why the car wouldn't start when it took less time. Eureka - Time was now the problem - not the vanilla ice cream!!!! The engineer quickly came up with the answer:

"Vapor lock".

It was happening every night; but the extra time taken to get the other flavours allowed the engine to cool down sufficiently to start. When the man got vanilla, the engine was still too hot for the vapour lock to dissipate. Even crazy looking problems are sometimes real and all problems seem to be simple only when we find the solution, with cool thinking.

Don't just say it is "IMPOSSIBLE" without putting a sincere effort....

What really matters is our attitude and our perception.

Wrong intonation of Mantras @ consequences

Once Indra showed disrespect to Brhaspati due to the arrogance of his wealth
the devaguru and he left the sabha and disappeared. Indra regretting his
action searched for Brhaspathi but could not find him. Without the aacharya
anugraha the devaloka lost its lustre and the devas were easily defeated by
the asuras. Indra lost his kingdom and appealed to Brahma who told him to
ask Visvaroopa the son of Thvashta to act as their guru. Thvashta was one of
the twelve aadhithyas born to Adhithi and Kasyapa. But he married Racana who
was the sister of the asuras. Visvaroopa was the son of Thvashta and racana
and was well versed in Vedas. When Indra asked him he accepted to be their
guru, even though he said, his brahma thejas would be dimmed by doing the
work of a purohith, because the devas were like his fathers, and instructed
Indra with Narayanakavacha to protect him from his enemies. Through the
power of the Narayana kavacha Indra got back his kingdom.

Then Visvaroopa performed a sacrifice and gave the offerings to the devas
calling them by names but he also offered it secretly to the asuras who were
his uncles. Indra came to know this and severed the three heads Visravas
had. Thvashta angered by this did a homa to create a son who would kill
Indra with the manthra *indhraSSathro vivrDhasva,maa chiram jahi vidhvisham,
"*oh enemy of Indra grow and kill the enemy soon." But due to his agitation
he pronounced the manthra with a wrong accent. Giving the accent on the
letter *dhra* in *Indhra* it became a bahuvreehi compound meaning *indhraH*
*SathruH* *yasya*, the one to whom Indra is the enemy instead of giving the
accent on *thruH* of the word *sathruh*, which would have been a
thathpurusha compound meaning *Indhrasya* *SathruH*, the enemy of Indhra.

AS a result of the homa Vrthrasura rose from the fire, fierce looking and
the devas became afraid and resorted to Lord Vishnu for protection He
advised them to pray the sage dhaDheechi to give them his backbone and make
a weapon out of it strong like vajra. Sage dhaDheechi gave up his sareera
which, he said, had to be given up sometime in any case, and the Indra made
vajrayudha from his bones.

There ensued a fierce battle between the devas and asuras. This happened in
the beginning of Threthayuga. Vrthra abused the devas saying that they were
killers of guru, brother and one of brahmathejas, meaning the killing of
Visvaroopa by Indra.

Then he said the Lord Vishnu would not give riches to His devotees lest they
may swerve from the path of salvation and prayed to the Lord that he should
always be endowed with the devotion to the Lord. Indra was surprised to see
his devotion but nevertheless the two fought on and Indra struck Vrthra with
the vajrayudha which cut off his arms and Vrthra walked towards Indra with
his legs like a great mountain and swallowed Indra along with his chariot.
But since Indra was protected by the Narayana kavacha he was unharmed and
came out breaking his body with the vajrayudha and cut off his head with it.
A light came from the body of Vrthra and entered the Lord.

But Indra was affected by the brahmahatthi which was pursuing him in the
form of an old, sick and ugly female with foul odour and Indra ran away and
entered the manasa lake and lived inside the lotus stalk there for thousand
years out of sight of everyone. Then he was released by meditation on
Sathyanarayana and since he was protected by Mahalakshmi in the manasarover
he was not affected by the brahmahatthi.

In the absence of Indra, Nahusha became Indra by performing 100 aswamedha
sacrifices. But due to arrogance he wanted Sachidevi to come to him and she
asked him to come to her on a palanquin carried by the saptharshis. When
they were not going fast enough due to the gait of Agasthya, the dwarf sage,
he said "sarpa sarpa," go fast and Agasthya cursed j him saying "sarpo
bhava" and he fell down being transformed into a serpent.

The Indra regained his kingdom and became completely free from his sin by
the aswamedha sacrifice performed n by sage Marici and others by
propitiating Yagna naraayana.

A married couple in their early 60s was celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary in a quiet,
Romantic little restaurant.
 
Suddenly, a tiny yet beautiful fairy appeared on their table.
She said, 'For being such an exemplary married couple and for being loving to each other for all  this time, I will grant you each a wish.'
 
The wife answered, 'Oh, I want to travel around the world with my darling husband.'

The fairy waved her magic wand and - poof! - two tickets for the Queen Mary II appeared in her hands.

The inner wealth

A sannyasin of great spiritual attainment came to the outskirts of a village in India. He was camped under a tree for the night when suddenly a villager came running to him, screaming, The stone! The stone! Give me the precious stone! Which stone? asked the sannyasin.

Last night, Lord Siva appeared before me in a dream, said the villager, and told me that if I went to the outskirts of the village at nightfall, I would find a sannyasin who would give me a stone which would make me rich for the rest of my life. The sannyasin rummaged through his knapsack and took out a stone. Probably he talked about this, he said, extending the stone to the villager. I found it lying on the path in the forest a few days ago.

Take it, I give it to you, offered the sannyasin with all simplicity. The villager looked at the stone in amazement it was an enormous diamond. He took the diamond and went away quickly. All that night he tossed in his bed and could not sleep. The next day at dawn he woke up the sannyasin, returned the gem and asked, Give me the inner wealth which has made it possible for you to part with this diamond so easily.

Shatarthi kavya

 I have heard of the names popular as dvisandhaana-kaavya,
and tri-sandhaana-kaavya or dvyashraya-kaavya/tryaashraya kaavya also.
Dvisandhaana-kaavya of Dhananjaya is also popularly known. Mention of a
Dvisandhaana-kaavya ascrinbed to Dandin is also available in Bhojaprabhanda
which is considered as the earliest of its species. Many more emerged in
this type.

A work Raghava-Yadava-Pandaviiyam authored by poet Chidambara (1600 ad) in
is available which describes the story of Ramayana, Bhagavata and
Mahabharata in a stretch.A commentary on this was written by his father
Anantanarayana, commenting three times each verse to bring out the triple
meaning.
Two more with  the same title and theme, is also available authored by
Rajacudamani dikshita and Anantacharya separately.

Another feat by the same poet Cidambara is *Pancha-kalyana-champuu* which
describes the story of five marriages of Rama, Krishna, Vishnu, Shiva and
Subrhmanya in a breath. Thus we have panca-sandhaana-kaaya giving Five
layers of meaning. A *Sapta-sandhaan-kaavya *by Meghavijayagani describes
the story of the Five *tiirthankara*-s   plus Krishna and Baladeva
(Ramacandra he calls). Seven stries interwoven in each verse. Another
fore-runner of this, is said to be composed by Hemacandra, the versatile
genius of Jaina writers, which is lost today.

The highest degree of variable interpretations reached is the
Shataartha-kaavya of Somaprabha (1177 AD) in which he has interepreted
himself in hundred ways on account of which he is conferred the title
"Shataarthika".

I hope this is the maximum limit available of interpretations to be thrust
into a poem. In between*dvisandhaana*.and *shataarthi* many might have
existed and only few have come down to us.

Tryarthi kavi

Another tryarthi kavi is  Chidambara Kavi and google gave this:

"Two texts in this section show the scholars' mastery of the language and
grammar. Shabdartha Chintamani written with a commentary by Chidambara Kavi
(circa 16-17th century). The poet uses several rare words that have unusual
sounds to compose the individual stanzas. Reading the stanza left to right,
we read the Ramayana. Reading the same stanza from the last word to the
first (right to left) we read the story of Krishna. The comprehensive
commentary helps us unravel the meaning. Also by the same poet is
Kathathrayi. Here the same sloka narrates an incident from the
Ramayana/Bharatham or Bhagavatham. This is primarily through using multiple
meanings for words or occasionally by varying the pausing between alphabets
depending on the text you want to read.

*Sudurgamambhoja Suhrutkulairya prekshyairmukhair rajakulai prasiddhai I
Ucchodyaduudhonnati hasti gotram samudraghoram jaya daitya Sainyam II*

**Taking the second line, the poet uses the word "hasthi" to refer to the
prosperity of Ayodhya. In reading the sloka for Mahabaratha, hasthi read
with the next word, indicates the clan that rules Hasthinapur i.e. the
Pandavas. While reading the Bhagavata, the word is used to describe the
virility of the Yadava race."

Some time back, I had the chance opportunity of listening to the discourse of Shri Krishna Chandra Thakur Maharaj, in the Aastha Channel. He was explaining the glories of Lord Krishna and the greatness of Brij (Brindavan). Thakur Maharaj explained the greatness of Radha and the purpose of her birth.

Geetha Govindham (Jayadheva Ashtapathi) is hailed as a holy work as Lord Krishna Himself penned a line in the 19th Ashtapathi. It is a pity that many people think this divine work is a mere love-lust dance drama. It saddens me to see that people are not able to raise themselves beyond crass feelings and see the essence of this great epic.

Guru Thakur Maharaj explained that Radha and Krishna were never different. They were part of the same Divine. Without Radha, there is no Krishna and without Krishna, Radha ceases to exist.

Guru Maharaj explained this concept through the life of a saint called Nagaji Baba of Brij. The discourse was in Chaste Hindi. I may not be able to bring all the emotions that were presented by the Guru Maharaj. However, I will try to present it as best possible.

Nagaji Baba, an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna, lived in Brij. He used to wander the lengths and breadths of the holy place. He was a Sidhha and never cared for worldly things. His mind was always focused on the Lord and he was always engulfed in the bliss of Raas Leela.

The Baba's hair was matted and would roll down on the road. He used to go on meditation for long periods, totally lost to the world surrounding him. On one such occasion, he was sitting under a banyan tree and was meditating on the Divine. The tree branches were very dense and there was a sudden gust of wind. Baba's hair got locked into the braches. They got entangled so much, the hair could not be separated from the branches. After a long time, Babaji came out of the trance and tried to get up. He realized the situation. However, he was not perturbed and just sat there.

After some time, along came a gopal, driving his flock! He saw Babji sitting under the tree. He came near him and saw that Babji's hair was locked with the banyan tree branches. He asked Babaji whether he could remove the hair from the branches. Babaji smiled at the boy and said, "Let this be taken care of by the One who did this". The boy asked him who it was so that he could go and fetch him. Baba did not reply. The boy persuaded and persisted. At last, Babaji relented and said it was none other than Kishori Nandhlal.

The boy smiled! He then changed His form and there stood Lord Krishna. He asked. Baba, I am here. I have come to rescue you. Shall I remove the hair from the branches and relieve you from the suffering? Babaji looked at the Lord and asked "who are you?" Lord Krishna looked surprised! Babaji said, you are not my Krishna.
Lord asked with a mischievous smile. Oh, are there several Krishnas? I never knew that! Babaji replied, "My Kannaiah would never be without His Kisorie (Radha)". How can He be without Her? So, please go away. You are not my Krishna. Smiling at this, Lord asked. Baba, do you think Radha and I are different? OK! Look here. And Lo! Baba saw the beautiful face of Radha Mayya appearing above the Lord's left shoulder and smiling at him. Baba's joy knew no bounds. He admitted. Yes, you are my Kishori Lal.

Lord Krishna then asked. Baba, can I remove the hair now? Baba said, Hey Kishori Nandh! Why remove my hair. Remove my life instead. And then he fell at the Lord's feet and gave his soul.

The Nagaji Baba's Samadhi is at the foot of the Banyan tree in Brindavan. For those who think Radha and Krishna are different, the above incident is an eye-opener.

Lord Krishna is ever present for those who seek Him with sincerity. He comes to liberate those who have totally surrendered themselves to Him. He is ever present, for those who care for Him. He pours his love lavishly, for those who seek His Love.

Radhe Krishna! Radhe Krishna!!

Gajananam bhoota ganathi sevitham-meaning

GajAnanam bhoota ganAthi sEvitam ......
 
The meaning for the above sloka is : "O elephant headed Lord, who is served by a host of Ganas, who is
fond of the juce of Kapitta and Jamboo fruits, O son o Uma and the remover
of obstacles, I bow before your Lotus feet."

There is a coded herbal remedy for a very common disease in this verse.
Ganesha is not the son of Uma. Uma was Lord Shiva's first wife who immolated
herself during the Daksha Yagna. Ganesha was the son of Parvati. So why did
the Rishi say Uma-sutam meaning son of Uma? This is the coded hint. Uma also
means sweet in Sanskrit. Sutam also means urine. So for those who know the
proper decoding method, this famous Sholaka is a remedy for diabetics -
sweet-urine!! - "If you take a little quantity of juice of Jamboo fruits you
will not get diabetics." Similarly most of the verses of Shree Rudram in
Yajurveda also have coded instructions for herbal remedies for various
problems. That is one of the reasons why the Ayurvedic pundits of south
India recite these verses while preparing the Ayurvedic medicines, recite
the verse while giving it to the patient and ask him to recite it while
taking the medicine. That is tradition for you!

Raghava yadaveeyam-pratiloma

Last time i had posted about Raghava Yadhaveeyam in which sanskrit shlokas are highly
intelligently constructed. I want to bring to your attention another hidden
beauty.
The pratiloma of the title 'SriRAghavayAdavIyaM' is 'yaMvIdayAvagharASri'
which can be analyzed as:
yaM (to whom) vIdayA (with knowledge (derived from the dhatu 'vid' to know))
va (dwelling/residence) gharA (sprinkled (derived from the dhAtu 'ghRi' to
sprinkle)) Sri (Goddess LakShmi)
i.e., to whom Goddess LakShmi has sprinkled the residence with knowledge
 
Now coming to the other aspect,  these are also called dwyarthi kavyas. There are also some tryarthi  kavyas - 3 different sets of stories embedded in one kavyathis kavya is a dwayarthi kavya since it gives two meanings. However there is yet another kavya called Trayarthi kavya which gives 3 different meanings.
 
A google search for tryarthi kavya threw up a name 'sarangadhareeyamu' by 'kavi narasimha' sri pokuri kasipathi..
